So a lot has happened in the past few months. After a few stressful weeks, I started my new job at a consulting firm in July, then a month into that helped my wonderful and patient wife pack and move all of our stuff to Altamonte Springs, a suburb-ish (Orlando is almost the very definition of urban sprawl) of Orlando.
It's been great so far: Much closer to friends, more interesting events, a real "city" with all the pros and cons that entails. My new job has been at times refreshing but occasionally tinged with worried stress, having never work in a consulting position before, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it.
The new job is a marked improvement re: work culture. A far more relaxed, collegiate atmosphere. No weird internal power struggles or anything like that, just a bunch of knowledgable folks wrangling the challenge of projects and clients. I will miss my own office, but the new job seems pretty flexible with their team working from home so that's an option.
Going to attempt to update a little more regularly now, but we'll see how that goes!
